Shipping Policy

This page explains shipping policy for visitors of Vera Bradlay Day. It is not marketing copy — it is the working set of terms that governs how orders, samples and review materials are dispatched, tracked and delivered.

Scope of this policy

Vera Bradlay Day is an editorial resource about Vera Bradley backpacks, duffel bag shapes, purses and crossbody styles. We do not operate a checkout and we do not list products for purchase. The terms below cover the physical material we do send out: press and sample loans for studio shoots, printed reference sets, and correspondence that needs to reach you in a box rather than an inbox.

Questions about a shipment

Email [email protected] or call +1-212-555-0194. Desk hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Coverage and processing windows

What we send, and how long it takes to leave the desk

Most shipments from this desk are editorial in nature. A loan bag travels in a soft cotton sleeve inside a rigid outer carton; printed reference sets go flat between board in a padded envelope. Because we are not a retail operation, there is no cart, no price sheet and no order confirmation to wait for. A shipment exists only after a desk editor has confirmed it in writing, usually by email, with a stated return date for anything on loan.

Processing runs on business days only. Requests confirmed before 2:00 PM Eastern on a weekday are packed the same day when stock is on hand; requests confirmed later in the afternoon, on a weekend, or on a U.S. federal holiday are packed the next business day. If a bag you asked about is already out on another shoot, we will tell you the expected return window rather than hold your request quietly.

Nothing here is expedited by default. If a delivery date matters — a shoot date, a review deadline, a class session — say so when you write in, and we will tell you honestly whether the timing is realistic before anything is packed.

At a glance

Packing days: Monday to Friday, excluding U.S. federal holidays.

Same-day packing: requests confirmed before 2:00 PM Eastern, stock permitting.

Carriers: major U.S. parcel services; the carrier is named in your confirmation email.

Loan items always carry a stated return date and a prepaid return label.

Where we deliver, and what it costs

Shipping cost depends on what is being sent, how far it travels and whether it returns to us. The rows below describe the four situations that come up most often.

Shipment type Where it goes
Loan bag — backpack or duffel bag shape Contiguous United States
Printed reference set United States
Purse or crossbody loan United States and Canada
International editorial request Outside the United States

International parcels may be opened by customs and can attract duties or import charges set by the destination country. Those charges are billed to the recipient by the carrier. We cannot estimate them in advance and we do not reimburse them.

Tracking, delivery and returns

Tracking, receiving and sending things back

Every confirmed shipment leaves with a tracking number, and that number goes into the same email thread where the request was agreed. If tracking has not moved for two business days, write to us and we will open a trace with the carrier rather than ask you to keep waiting.

Check the outer carton on arrival before signing for it. If a parcel looks crushed, wet or re-taped, note that with the carrier at the door and photograph the box as it was handed over. Those two details are what a carrier claim is built on, and without them a claim is usually closed.

Loan items come back on the prepaid label enclosed in the carton. Reuse the same outer box where you can, add the padding back in, and hand the parcel to the carrier before the stated return date. If a loan needs to stay longer because a shoot moved, tell us before the return date passes and we will extend it when the schedule allows.

If something arrives damaged

  • Keep the carton, the inner padding and the packing slip together until the matter is closed.
  • Photograph the outer box and the damaged item on the day it arrives, in the light you have.
  • Send the photographs and the tracking number to [email protected] within five business days of delivery.
  • Call +1-212-555-0194 during desk hours if the matter is urgent and you need a person rather than an email thread.

Delays, exceptions and the limits of this policy

Weather and carrier disruption

Storm systems, regional carrier backlogs and holiday volume can add days that no desk can control. When a carrier posts a service alert for your area, we pass that notice on instead of guessing at a new date.

Address accuracy

Give a full street address, an apartment or suite number where one exists, and a phone number the carrier can use on delivery day. A parcel returned to us because an address was incomplete or nobody could receive it may need a second outbound charge before it can go out again.

Restricted destinations

Some countries and a few domestic routes cannot be served by the carriers we use, or require documentation we cannot supply. If your destination falls into that group we will say so in the first reply rather than accept a request we cannot fulfil.

Value and insurance limits

Carriers cap the declared value they will cover on a parcel. Where a loan item sits above that cap, we split the shipment or use a carrier with a higher limit and tell you which route we took. Anything above the carrier's ceiling travels at the desk's own risk, and we will say that plainly before it ships.

Where this policy changes

Updates, questions and the desk that answers them

This shipping policy describes how the desk handles dispatch, tracking and returns. Terms are reviewed when a carrier changes its service levels, when a new destination opens up, or when the way we lend material changes. The version published on this page is the version that applies.

For anything the page does not answer, write to [email protected] or call +1-212-555-0194 between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM Eastern, Monday to Friday. The desk is at 452 W Broadway, New York, NY 10012.

Common questions about shipping

Can I order a backpack, duffel bag or purse to be shipped to me?

No. This site does not sell products and has no checkout. Shipping here covers editorial material only — loan bags for shoots, printed reference sets, and desk correspondence that needs to travel by parcel. If you are looking for styling guidance on backpacks, duffel bag shapes or purses, the guides on this site are the place to start.

How soon after a confirmed request does a parcel leave?

Requests confirmed before 2:00 PM Eastern on a business day are packed the same day when the item is on hand. Later confirmations, weekends and U.S. federal holidays push packing to the next business day. Transit then runs 2–5 business days within the contiguous United States.

Who pays for a loan item travelling both ways?

The desk pays the outbound leg and includes a prepaid return label in the carton. You cover nothing unless an item is lost or damaged in your possession, or unless a parcel comes back to us because the address was incomplete or nobody was there to receive it.

Do international parcels carry duties or import charges?

They can. Customs authorities in the destination country set duties and import charges, and the carrier bills those to the recipient. We cannot estimate them in advance, we do not pay them on your behalf, and they are not refundable by this desk.

What if tracking has not moved in two business days?

Write to [email protected] with the tracking number and the destination address. The desk opens a trace with the carrier and keeps you in that thread until the parcel is located or the carrier closes the case with a written outcome.
